You alone are the Lord.
You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars.
You made the earth and the seas and everything in them.
You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you. ~Nehemiah 9:6

2014 is almost history. Seems like it just started yesterday. I hope and pray 2015 will be a very good year. With so much turmoil in the world, I have the feeling that a lot of prayer will be needed if that is to happen. Whatever comes in this new year, we know that the Heavenly Father will not be surprised and that He will have the last say about what happens.

I hope 2015 will bring many new people to this place to share with us and to be blessed as we have been blessed.

by Albert W. Beaven
The real Christmas experience for anyone is the turning on of the light within, which comes from the spirit of the indwelling Christ. It is still his incoming that makes the difference between a darkened inn and a glorious stable.

Before we go on with our Christmas preparation, let us ask ourselves whether the real Christmas has come to us, whether what we are going through is just a form, a bartering of gifts, a forced holiday, or whether we have a real experience that makes Christmas a joy and not a bore. Christ taken in and then given out, that makes it a genuine Christmas for us and for others; for "God shined in our hearts" that the light might be passed on.

All about us are those who wait for our coming: lonely people, discouraged people, heart-sick people with little love and joy. Christmas opens our eyes and challenges us to let our light shine outside our own little circle and give cheer where it is needed most.
When I read the above poem in a little book we have called Everything Christmas, I thought it was something I needed to think about and then I thought if I need it, there are probably others who would also benefit from reading it, so I decided to share it here. I hope the light of Christ will shine in every heart of those who come here and share with us this week.

Thanksgiving is over. Black Friday has come and gone. Cyber Monday has come and gone. Now we are on the countdown to Christmas. We are busy with many things, and these are such troublesome times. Just been watching protesters marching in many different cities. "No justice, no peace," is one of the chants we hear. I can't help but believe that most of the people out there in the streets are just doing it because they want to be part of the crowd, and what results is a party atmosphere. How sad it is that most do not realize that the only real peace is to be found in Jesus Christ.

Some have wondered about my new glasses. It has been two weeks now. The lady told me sometimes it takes as long as two weeks for eyes to adjust. I'm happy to say that my eyes have adjusted almost completely. A week ago I was pretty skeptical that they would ever be OK but now I believe they will be. It is amazing how eyes can adjust. It is amazing how people can adjust. I'm glad God made us that way.

Thank you for coming back here week after week to share and be blessed by what others have shared.  If you are new to this blog and need more information, just click on Linking Info under the header picture.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. I know this is an American holiday but I have a feeling it has "caught on" in other countries and I know some other countries have an equivalent of our Thanksgiving. We had Thanksgiving at our daughter's house this year. She is a terrific cook and, as usual, I ate way too much. I am thankful every day for so many things. I'm thankful that you continue to encourage me for hosting this weekly sharing time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Welcome Friends

I got new glasses this afternoon and I'm not sure whether my eyes just need to adjust to them better or if they are just "off".  I think they are really pretty, but the main function of glasses is to see better, not just "look" better. As I was thinking about how well I can, or can't see, it reminded me of how people see the same thing so differently in every area of life. We can even read the Bible and not all "see" it alike. And politics? Wow, people certainly do not see everything alike when it comes to politics. I remember hearing as I was growing up that there were two things people shouldn't discuss - religion and politics. Now why did I bring that up? I'm sure that will bring out emotions from just about everybody. So, try to forget I brought it up. (smile). Let's just share inspiration, not controversy.

We had more people link last week than we have had in several weeks. I'm amazed at the way the Lord is using this blog to bless so many people. With so much crazy evil stuff going on in the world today, I'm glad some regard this place as a sort of "oasis".

This is my favorite time of the year. It is really passing by quickly though. If I had my way, time would slow down -- just a little at least.

Welcome Back Everyone

Can you believe we're already into November? Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. I'm glad it has cooled off a bit here in the desert, but I'm glad it is not going to get as cold as it does in some places.

Thank you for your continued encouragement. You are all very special people to me and to each other. If you are new here and want more information about how to share, just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.

Welcome Again

I would like to welcome everybody back to Spiritual Sundays for another linking session. I'm glad I have been able to provide this place where anyone who wishes to can come and share their inspirational thoughts, pictures, poems, scriptures, etc. I'm grateful for Linky Tools who provides the "tools" for the linking. And I am grateful for everyone who has been instrumental in making the internet so accessible. I can't hardly imagine life without the internet.

Welcome Back

More bad news this week, but I am going to try to be positive here. All the good things that people do usually doesn't make the news. It has always been that way. I think maybe I watch too much news. I do like to know what is going on in the world though.

A special thank you to Cheryl who sent me a CD which included a song she wrote and recorded called "When You Walk Through the Gates." This also reminds me of the song we used to sing in church a lot which included the words, "and the toils of the road will seem nothing - when I get to the end of the way." So really - I am not down. I'm thinking positive.

A big THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes. You've helped me feel better about getting "old".

Seems like world news just keeps getting worse and worse. All the terrible things that terrorists are doing and now Ebola has come to the United States. I don't like to be negative, but it is hard not to be these days. I'm just glad I've read the book of Revelation and know the ending. Can't imagine how I would feel without this assurance. And there are so many people in the world who do not have the same assurance because they don't know about it. My prayer is that more and more people will come to know the truth sooner rather than later. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Welcome back to Spiritual Sundays. Several people have told me that when they link they get an error message, so they link again and the same thing happens. I have no idea what causes this. But I've been told that if you go look at the blog again, the link is actually there. Some have linked multiple times because they think it didn't accept their link. I suggest that even if you get an error message, you go ahead and look and see if the link is there. Chances are it is. I'm sorry for the confusion. If you happen to link more than once, I'm happy to delete the extra ones for you. I'm just glad you are here sharing with us.

So I passed another milestone this week (birthday actually). Can't believe I'm 78 now. 77 sounds so much better, but I can't say that anymore. I'm just happy the Lord has blessed me with all these years and that I'm pretty healthy for my age. I really can't complain about anything ― at least not "seriously" complain.

Welcome back to Spiritual Sundays. I've noticed that fewer people are linking the past few weeks. I'm glad new people are continuing to start linking though. Welcome Back

Some of you who have been sharing here for several years will remember when Ginger co-hosted this blog with me. We were blessed to have Ginger and her husband and two other family members as houseguests last weekend. Family is important to most people, and certainly is with us. We realize it more and more as we get older and many family members have passed on. Life is short. Let's be thankful for the years we have to be with them here on this earth.

Welcome Friends

Well, you did it again. You encourage me each week by comments you make. I'm so glad that so many are blessed by sharing here on this blog. I never dreamed when we started it over 6 years ago that it would bring so many people together. Many people have met through blogs and through other media outlets and eventually meet in person. Certainly there is a lot of bad stuff on the internet, but there is also a lot of good stuff. I think people find what they are looking for, whether good or bad. I'm glad you've chosen the good and are here reading this right now. So let's get started linking right now. Who will be first?

If you need instructions on how to link, you will find it by clicking Linking Info under the header picture. Some have had a problem linking and end up discovering that they have linked several times. If this happens to you, don't worry, just let me know and I'll delete the duplicates.

Welcome Back

It's already the end of August. Seems like people generally start looking forward to Fall and talking about it about this time of the year. Maybe there is just so much more important stuff going on that the season of the year just isn't that important. Actually it isn't officially Fall until almost the end of September, but here in America, it starts "unofficially" after Labor Day which is Monday.

The number who link here has been down this summer but it was up again last week. I'm glad. I hope more and more people come here again and again to be blessed by reading what is shared by you. We need all the encouragement we can get. Thank you for your faithfulness.

How Long?

Revelation 20:3-5
Then I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God.
I have been aware of this scripture for many many years. It makes more sense to me now than it ever has in the past. I had always thought of beheading as being something from the distant past (very distant) and that it doesn't happen in modern times. In recent weeks and months we have heard of many beheadings. Those who do it are doing it in the name of Allah. Evidently it will get worse as time goes on until the end. Just when that will be no one knows  only God. It certainly makes one ponder the thought that our days on this earth are numbered and we need to concentrate more on the after life, and less on this present life. Christians are being severely persecuted in the middle east and it may be just a matter of time until it happens here in America, or wherever you live.

In the meantime, we can encourage one another by sharing here. If you have not linked before, and would like more information, just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.

I was honored to receive a special blogging award from Hattie this week.
I've received a lot of blogger awards in years past, but not in a very long time. As soon as I received this award, The thought came to my mind that all of you dear people who link here each week are the reason this is an inspiring blog. So, I feel I should share it with you. All of you have inspiring blogs. If you will click on Hattie's name in the first sentence, it will take you to the award. One of the rules of the award is to chose 15 other bloggers and pass it on to them. Of course I can't choose just 15 bloggers so I'm offering to pass this on to any of you who would like to receive it.

I know you all, like me, are offering up many prayers for so many at this time. The whole world is in such turmoil. And, of course, there are individuals we all know who need our prayers and concern. Thank you for being an inspiration to me as well as to each other.

Welcome Friends

It has now been a little over 6 years since Ginger and I started this blog. Some of you have been here from the beginning and some have only recently started sharing with us. I love and appreciate each one of you. Thank you for your faithfulness. I think this is a very busy time for many with last minute vacations and school starting. Maybe that accounts for the fact that we had fewer links last week than we have had since we first started linking. As you may know, a lot of bloggers have stopped blogging or almost stopped and it is due largely to Facebook. I think that may also be a factor. I have to confess that I spend a lot of time on Facebook now and have neglected my blogs. I have five blogs but this is the only one I post on regularly and I don't get around to visiting all the links like I did the first few years. I'm glad there are still a number of people who do keep blogging and I'm glad so many of you choose to share here.

We have new prayer requests from Anne. Please click on Prayer Requests under the header picture to see these as well as other requests.

Welcome Back

Hard to believe it is August already. Where did July go? Where has the year gone? Lots of schools have already started and others are getting ready to start. When I was in school, it always started in September, right after Labor Day. It still seems to me like that's when it should start. Maybe I'm getting old.

There is so much turmoil in the world today and seems to get worse as time goes by. I think we need to understand what is going on, pray about it, and not give up hope. I'm glad this is a place where we can come and share inspirational posts that help to give us hope in these dark days. Thank you for sharing with us each week.

So now it is hot hot hot where I live. Yesterday was 114 and it got even hotter today. I think it is interesting that in our world there are deserts that get extremely hot and rain forests where they get an abundance of rain. Some places it gets very very cold and says that way all year around. I have the feeling that when we see the new heaven and the new earth promised in the Bible that the temperature will be perfect all the time. What do you think? I think that would be great. As for now, I hope it is cooler where you live than it is here. I'm ready for winter but it is a long way off.

There are always many situations that we need to be praying about. Serious world events have recently occurred that we need to be praying for and about — the downing of the airliner in which almost 300 people lost their lives, and the war that is being waged between Israel and Hamas. It seems the whole world is in a mess right now. If I didn't know that God is still in control, I could get very depressed. But no matter how messed up the world becomes, there will be a day when He makes it all right again. The Bible predicts that there will be perilous times before the end comes. It seems to me like that time must be getting pretty near.

We continue to receive prayer requests on this blog. A new one was just added today. I hope you will go there and pray for the young man who has requested our prayers. Just click on Prayer Requests under the header picture to take you to that page.

And, of course, if you need instructions on how to link here, you can click on Linking Info.

Have you heard the song called Carrickfergus? Charlotte Church sings it and I have had it on my iTunes app for a long time. I really like the song. Why am I mentioning this? I noticed a few days ago that we had a visitor here on this blog from Carrickfergus. Occasionally I like to look at the widget near the bottom of the sidebar to see where people are coming from. I see there are people from all over the world. I also like to look at the world globe at the very bottom and see the little red dots indicating where hits are coming from. Back to Carrickfergus, I didn't really know that such a place existed. I thought it might be a fantasy fictitious place. I'm glad it's real. If you are from there or if you've been there and you are reading this, I hope you will comment about it.

For those of us living in the U.S.A. this is a special weekend. July 4 is our Independence Day. The day celebrates our independence from England. Independence is a good thing but not always. I'm afraid independence from England has evolved to a large extent to independence from God. That is not a good thing and may end up being our downfall. I hope and pray America wakes up before it is too late.

Many will be busy this weekend with parties and celebrations. I hope many will find the time to share with us here. I'm glad I can provide this venue for sharing inspirational thoughts and posts. Thank you for your faithfulness in sharing with us.

I wish there was a "like" button for comments on this blog. I would be checking it almost every time. Thank you for the encouraging comments you make. :)

I'm trying something new again — larger size pictures for the links. There is also a little more room for describing the link. I'm glad we went to the picture style linking. It does make the blog "prettier" and more interesting.

We have people from all over the world who come here to share and to read what others have shared. There are always new people who discover this blog so I repeat each week: If you would like to share and want more information about linking, just click "linking info" under the header pictures for instructions.

Welcome Back Friends

You continue to be an encouragement by posting comments each week. This assures me that continuing with this blog is time well spent. It has been almost 6 years now since we first started it. I think it is terrific that after all this time we still have 40 - 50 links each week and sometimes more. Everyone is busy busy busy but still finds time to share with us. Thank you for your faithfulness.

You will find instructions for linking by clicking Linking Info under the header picture if you are unsure about how to do it. Everyone is welcome to participate.

The links were unavailable for awhile. If you came here and the site didn't completely load, I'm glad you're back. Looks like it is working now. Sorry for the inconvenience.  - Charlotte

First I want to say Happy Father's Day to all the men who share here. Not all men are fathers? Of course not, but I think all men should be honored anyway. On Mother's Day in the past, at many church services, all the mothers were asked to stand and they were honored. Sometimes the mother with the most children was recognized, oldest mothers, etc. This year at our church all the women were asked to stand on Mother's Day and all women were honored. I thought that was good. I should qualify the Happy Father's Day to acknowledge that this is an American holiday and we have people from all over the world who share here. So whether you live in America or somewhere else, Happy Father's Day anyway.

Every Father's Day I am reminded that the very best father is our Father in Heaven. We are reminded that we need to honor Him every day of our lives. Come to think of it, we should also honor our earthly fathers every day of our lives. If your earthly father is still alive, I hope you will let him know how much he means to you.

Time to start linking again, and if this is your first time to share by linking here, and you need more information, just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions. It is really quite simple.

Welcome Back

As I said last week, time flies. It's time to start linking again. A lot of people are traveling this time of year or they have company and not a lot of time to spend on the computer. I'm happy to say that every summer since we started Spiritual Sundays we have continued to have a lot of people participate. Thank you for your continued support. I'm glad so many people are blessed by what is shared.

My how the time flies. School is out again. Seems like it just started. I can remember thinking my mother was really old when she was talking about going to her 50 year high school reunion. That was many years ago, and now it has been 60 years since I graduated from high school. And this evening our daughter is coming over to take us to dinner. Doesn't seem that long ago that we were bringing her home from the hospital when she was born. Reminds me of the old hymn that starts out like this: "Time is filled with swift transition, naught of earth unmoved can stand. Build your hopes on things eternal. Hold to God's unchanging hand." The older I get the more I realize what good advice that is.

I know it seems like yesterday we were linking here but it was a whole week ago. Now it is time to do it again. Thank you again to all who come here faithfully each week to share. You are a blessing to me and to each other.

I'm glad you are enjoying the new linking format. If you haven't linked before and would like more information about it, you can click on linking info under the header picture for instructions.

Welcome back everyone. This will be a busy weekend for those of us in the U.S. as it is Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day has always been special to me for many reasons. One of them is that I was baptized on Memorial Day in 1948. I was 11 years old. There have been lots of ups and downs since that time. Many things happened that I didn't want to happen and many things that I wanted to happen did not. I can look back over those 66 years and realize that God has been with me all the way and everything that happened or didn't happen turned out for my good. I am eternally grateful.

Although many didn't comment about the new format for linking, the ones I did get were positive. I do think it makes it more interesting so I've decided to keep doing it this way at least for awhile. I don't know if all computers work this way, but when I put my mouse over the picture for the link it shows the blog linked to it. I like that feature too.

If you have not linked before and would like more information about it, you can just click on "you're next" and it will take you to a form to fill out that is pretty self explanatory. If you wish, you can click on Linking Info under the header picture on this blog and you will see a form like the one you will need to fill out. It really is very simple.

First, I want to tell you how much I appreciate your comments and good wishes. Last week I had a suggestion that we use the kind of linky that includes pictures. I considered this kind of link a long time ago but decided it wouldn't work very well with the kind of posts that are linked on this blog. However, I've reconsidered, and thought I would at least give it a try. So, you will notice when you link it will have a different look. I think it will be a more interesting look rather than just the list of links. Let me know what you think and we will either continue with the new look or go back to the old one. I know some people don't like changes. But ― we will see.

Welcome Back Again

Of course the above greeting is for all the mothers who participate in Spiritual Sundays. I know there are a few men who also participate and some women who are not mothers. We all have or have had mothers though, and aren't you glad this was God's plan. One of the greatest blessings of my life was having a Godly mother.

As you know, we post prayer requests on our Prayer Request page. We don't very often get messages of answered prayers but I got an email last week thanking us for our prayers. It is posted on the Prayer Request page. I hope you will click on that page (under the header picture) and read it. As I've said before, this blog reaches around the world. This message came from India.

Thank you again to all who share with us here. You have been a great blessing in my life and also in the lives of many others. If you wish to share and have not done so before, you will find instructions by clicking on Linking Info under the header picture.

Windy windy. It is that time of the year. But when I think of the tornados and flooding in some areas, I am ashamed that I complain about a little wind. There are a lot of scriptures about the wind. Some of these have also come to my mind. Here is one of them:  John 3:8 ESV The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The month of May has just begun. I think the wind will be dying down and hopefully there won't be any more tornados this year. It seems like there have been more tornados and more devastating ones in the past few years than there ever was before. I know our prayers are with all those who have been affected.

Time to start linking again. As I've said before, if you need information about who should link and how to do it, just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.

Welcome Back to Spiritual Sundays

I hope everyone had a beautiful and blessed Easter. Thank you to everyone who shared with us during this very busy week. You're the best.

Last Sunday at our church we saw a very inspiring video about one of our members. Since this blog is all about sharing inspiration, I thought I would share the video with you. I couldn't figure out how to actually put the video here on this blog but here is the link that will take you to it.

I love hearing how God works in the lives of people. How he can turn terrible events in our lives into blessings. This is such a story. I hope you will click on the link and watch it. It will be well worth your time.

Everyone is welcome to share with us here on this blog. If you want to link a post on your blog here, just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.

Happy Easter

I am reposting this Easter post I shared two years ago. I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend. Because He lives we can face tomorrow.

I really like this depiction of Jesus after his resurrection. I also like to imagine the wonder, awe, and excitement as the disciples learn that Jesus is alive.

I am reminded of the beautiful song with the words "Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone." I know He hold the future. What a blessed hope.

Easter has evolved into a fun Easter Bunny kind of day for many. Certainly we can have fun, but let's remember what Easter is really about and be thankful that He holds the future, and we don't need to fear if we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior. If this is not true for you, I pray you will give it much thought and prayer. Your future depends on it.

It's true. Many people were shouting "Hosannah" as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey on that Sunday morning. They wanted to make Him their king. They even laid palm branches down for the animal to walk on. But how their attitude changed just a few days later as they were shouting "Crucify him." I'm sure that many of them just got caught up in the moment and went along with the crowd - probably both times. I think we should ask ourselves if we would have done the same. How about today? Do we go along with the crowd and agree with whatever is popular at the moment, or do we have real conviction about what is right and what is wrong. So many things in our culture today that most people formerly believed were either right or wrong have just completely turned around and what was once accepted is now rejected, and vise versa. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and continue to study His Word and never just go along with the crowd.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Palm Sunday. I'm sure many want to share with us their thoughts on this subject as well as other subjects. There is information about how to link if you have not done so before and wish to participate. Just click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.
Thanks to for the photo.

I took a photo of this map of all the places in the world that our visitors to Spiritual Sundays have come from since April of 2012. I'm glad I took the picture because in trying to change the map style on the bottom of this blog I somehow managed to lose all the information and now it is starting over. Check out the spinning globe at the bottom of the blog. So sad. Almost no hits on it now. Oh well, we will see who visits from this point on.

What I was trying to do was point out that what is shared here is actually shared around the world. It never fails to amaze me. So, when you link here you never know who in the world may be impacted by what you shared. So for people all over the world, I thank you for sharing each week.
