You alone are the Lord. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you. ~Nehemiah 9:6

Welcome Back

Summer is winding down in our part of the world, and school has started in many places. It still seems to me like school should always start after Labor Day. But of course I'm not in charge so I guess I will just have to let them start whenever they want to. LOL

Yesterday we visited an old friend we had not seen in awhile. He is younger than I am and he is dying. The doctors say he could die tomorrow or he could live two more years. The reason I am even mentioning this is because I was so impressed with his attitude. When we walked in, he was lying down watching TV. He gave us a hardy welcome and when asked how he was feeling, he said "terrific". He said he didn't hurt anywhere and that is amazing because he has advanced rheumetoid arthritis.  At one time he played the piano for the church we were with. And he was not just an ordinary piano player, he was an outstanding one. He had his own style and added a lot of extra notes in everything he played. He has been unable to play the piano now for several years. He wants to keep living but he isn't afraid to die. He knows heaven will be his destination. I wish everyone could approach their last days like he is. What an inspiration he is.

So now, let's start linking those inspirional posts. All of you inspire me by the way you continue to link with us week after week.

  1. How wonderful your friend's attitude is. I hope I can do the same one day as I want to be a joy and a witness to my kids. Thank you sweet Charlotte.

  2. Your story caught my eye as I have experienced a several loss of piano playing ability. I don't have rheumatoid arthritis (at least not that I know of!), but I can't really play the piano without pain (tendonitus-like, in the elbow). Anyway, I am encouraged by this man's response to difficulty and pray God grants him great joy and some measure of relief in the midst of his pain.
