What happened to about 60 of these Google Friend Followers? (See the little pictures at the top) The number has gone down to 506 as I write this post. See November 27th post HERE. I wondered — have this many people left us? So - I googled "Google Friend Followers" to see if there was an explanation. There was. It was a little confusing to me, but I think what they were saying is that if the follower doesn't go to the website for a long time, they will be deleted from the list. Bottom line — if you don't come back here often, you might get deleted. Deleted by Google. I would never delete anyone.
Welcome to February. Let's get a start on sharing the love. Time to begin linking for the first time in this new month.

This has happened to me as well. I was thinking they must be slowly getting rid of it with the numbers falling so fast. Now, people get the posts through email, facebook and pinterest so I guess the google reader type of things are going out of fashion. It's a shame since it's still the way I like to read other blog posts the most.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've heard about the situation is that people who don't have a Google account would be deleted. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair to me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Charlotte, thank you for being such a faithful hostess!
GOD BLESS!
Guilty as charged!
ReplyDeleteIt happened on my blog, too. Like Sharon said above, unless they have a Google account, they will not show up as a follower on the blog and get the posts through Google reader. I was glad to know they didn't just dump me. Blessings to you, dear Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteGoole Friend Connect has been in the process of fading out over the past few years. As it stands now, only other Blogger bloggers can join it (from what I understand). So, I have found other ways for my friends to connect with my blog. They can connect on Google+ (which by using Blogger you are already a member), through a connected FB page, Twitter (to show when your new posts are up) and sites like Bloglovin' and Feedly. If you go to my blog, you'll see my "ways to connect" widget to get the idea. I removed Google Friend Connect a couple of years ago since it was so squirrely. Blessings, Joan
Oops...on my blog the widget is not "ways to connect" it says "follow". :)
DeleteHope you have a great weekend, Charlotte! :)
ReplyDeleteI also wondered why I lost followers (although they're originally not that many) but never bothered to check why. Now I know. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHey Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, and thank you for hosting another great link-up. Wishing you a blessed week!
