You alone are the Lord. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you. ~Nehemiah 9:6

Welcome Back

This Saturday is Halloween. I thought Halloween was an American holiday, but seems it is celebrated in other parts of the world, mostly Europe. (I discovered that by Googling it. :)) I loved Halloween when I was a kid. It was so much fun getting dressed up and going out Trick or Treating and coming home with a bag full of all kinds of goodies. My children enjoyed Halloween when they were young as well. I can remember some people not liking Halloween and I thought they were "old fogies".

Now that I'm "old", I guess I've become one of those "old fogies." I really don't like Halloween at all. I see it as glorifying death and evil and as a Christian, it just doesn't seem right to me. So, I won't say Happy Halloween. I think I'm in the minority in this and if you think I'm wrong, I understand. Maybe when you get "old" you will have a different view too or maybe not. You will be the judge of that.

I do know that this weekend is another chance to share positive inspirational thoughts so let's get started linking. If you need information about how to do it, click on Linking Info under the header picture for instructions.

  1. I hate halloween, too, Charlotte. I dress up all the time and think that's always fun--but the whole meaning of halloween is rooted in evil and the enemy of our souls. I think it is rather interesting that Reformation Day is October 31, 1517. I give a nod to that in my informative Podcast this week--enjoy!

  2. What a great scripture verse for bloggers! We are accountable for our words!

  3. Charlotte, I also dislike the Halloween day and celebration... So far away from God's design of life, love, and righteousness. Just found your blog today. I will stop by again!

  5. Hi, Charlotte. I found this site today....I don't remember where I came from. I've been wandering in blogland too much today to remember the route now. :-)

My dad was a pastor for much of my years at home, so I'm well acquainted with that life. Also, my grandmother's name was Charlotte. So, we have two small connections, besides faith in Jesus Christ. :-)

My family gave up Halloween when I was a kid. My dad explained to us why it wasn't good (for the same reasons you mentioned) and over time my brother next to me in age and I came to realize the problem and were willing to do without it. Our younger siblings never celebrated.
