You alone are the Lord. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you. ~Nehemiah 9:6

What Can I Say?

What can I say? Another tragedy this week is all that is on the news today. It is so sad. It seems like every day it is either earthquakes, floods, fires, etc., or it is someone engaging in senseless violence. I was just thinking back about how news was shared back when I was growing up. There was always a newsreel at the movies, some news on the radio, and that was just about it. Now there is 24/7 news on TV, on the internet and seems like everyone is talking about everything that is going on both good and bad, but mostly bad. Would I want to go back to just the newsreels in movie theaters? No. But life was so much simpler then. As hard as it is to do, we need to keep our eyes on the good and keep praying that God will hurry up and set everything right. In the meantime, it is important that we keep encouraging one another and this is one place to do just that. Thank you to all who share with us here. You do make the days a little brighter.

I had intended to make this a special Father's Day post. We don't have many men who share here, but we do have some. To you guys who are dads, I want to wish you a happy day. To those whose fathers are no longer with us, I hope you have many good memories to look back on.  Happy Father's Day, guys.

  1. Charlotte, I've had to limit my news watching because there is so much evil happening in this time of our lives. My husband keeps me informed. My heart goes out to the families and church members in this terrible loss and I pray for their comfort. Many of these mass murders are because of mental illness and the drugs that have devastating effects. It's not about guns, and I pray they don't focus on that. These people are hurting and need help so that these type things don't keep happening. I hope and pray they will give that more focus and help these people before more death and devastation comes.
    Blessings to you and yours,
    GG

  2. I was listening to one of the children of one of the ladies who died in the South Carolina shooting. He said his family had forgiven the shooter. Difficult words for such a tragedy but a true Christian. I feel as though Our Lord gained some mighty fine prayer warriors. I do not get caught up in the media hoopla. I pray for those families and their loss. I trust God, I certainly do not trust any mainstream media.
On a light note Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there. We hear so much about the "bad dads" and not enough about the good ones. I know so many wonderful fathers and I pray for them . I pray for the bad dads too. Our world has become so consumed by labels they are even labeling this violent act as a specific type of "racism". Click, off goes my T.V. I open my bible. I do not need to fed into the world's drama.
I hope every dad in your world is having a blessed and beautiful day.

  3. I'm a bit of a news junkie. I want to hear it, understand it and follow the stories. But I have found that I need a break, too, from the constant food of tragedy. Without God life would be hard to face. Knowing God is with us in all our tragedies is a treasured grace.
